Paul grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He earned his business degree from LSU in 1980 and moved to Dallas to work for Mobil. In the early 80s, he moved to Houston where he worked as a credit analyst for a small bank. In the mid 80s, he left banking to begin a career in financial planning with Cigna with a desire to help people plan their lives. He was a founder of the firm in 1993 and hired Kurt Box in 2006 to grow the firm as an independent Registered Investment Advisor. In 2012, Paul and Kurt merged their practice with Cole Campbell’s and created The Advocates.
Paul’s time is divided between working closely with existing clients and seeking out new ones. He has more than 35 years’ experience in financial planning, with special expertise in the specialized areas of risk management and estate planning. He’s held his Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certification since 1986 and is a past chairman and president of the Financial Planning Association’s Houston chapter. He’s also a supporter of the LSU Tiger Athletic Foundation, Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, Living Water International, and Camp for All.
Paul is deeply involved in the community. He has served as board member and treasurer for Shield Bearer, a nonprofit counseling center in northwest Houston. He’s also contributed his time and expertise as a Vestry board member and finance committee member for St. Timothy’s Anglican Church in Spring, Texas.
Paul’s a family man first and foremost. His personal time is devoted to Heather, his wife of 37 years, and his two sons. Tripp, the oldest, is a general surgeon practicing in Houston, and he and his wife have a daughter making Paul and Heather grandparents for the first time. His youngest son, Hunter is married and works as a project engineer with a construction company in Houston. Paul fills his leisure time with fly fishing, hunting, traveling and weekend ranching in Chappell Hill.
