Paul grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He earned his business degree from LSU in 1980 and moved to Dallas to work for Mobil. In the early 80s, he moved to Houston, where he worked as a credit analyst for a small bank. In the mid 80s, he left banking to begin a career in financial planning with Cigna. Paul became more and more interested in helping people plan their lives. In 2006, he became a registered investment advisor and opened his own practice with Kurt Box. In 2012, Paul and Kurt merged their practice with Cole Campbell’s and created The Advocates.
Paul’s time is divided between working closely with existing clients and seeking out new ones. He has more than 30 years’ experience in financial planning, with special expertise in the specialized areas of risk management and estate planning. He’s held his Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certification since 1986 and his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) designation since 1995. He’s also contributed his time and expertise as a Vestry board member and finance committee member for St. Timothy’s Anglican Church in Spring, Texas.
Paul’s a family man first and foremost. His personal time is devoted to Heather, his wife of 33 years, and his two sons. Tripp is a doctor and surgical resident at the University of Louisville. Hunter is a project engineer with a construction company in Houston. Paul fills his leisure time with fly fishing, hunting, traveling and weekend ranching.
